WMC Combi Drum 20/25 Filter System - Filtreau

The WMC Combi Drum 20/25 - Filtreau is a complete filter system from the Excellent series that combines automatic mechanical drum filtration and biological filtration. The system is designed for ponds and koi ponds and, depending on the technical design of the installation, can be chosen in a Gravity or Pump version. A matching Trickle filter is also available to further expand the biological filtration capacity.

This allows the WMC Combi Drum 20/25 system to be adapted to various types of pond installations.

Automatic mechanical filtration

The first part of the Combi Drum provides mechanical filtration. The drum measures Ø 400 × 400 mm and is equipped with a PP screen with stainless steel filter mesh with a mesh size of 120 microns.

The pond water flows through the filter mesh, where fine solid waste particles are trapped. As the filter mesh becomes clogged, the water level in the system changes. The float switch detects this and automatically activates a backwash cycle.

During this cycle, the drum is rotated and sprayed clean by the internal backwash pump. The dislodged waste is discharged from the filter system. This means the mechanical filter section does not need to be cleaned manually continuously.

Biological filtration

After mechanical filtration, the water continues to flow through the biological section of the Combi Drum. Biological filter media can be placed here, on which bacteria can settle.

The Combi Drum 20/25 has two air supplies of 50 × 300 mm for the biological filter section. Filter media such as Hel-X and Japanese mats are optionally available and can be chosen based on the desired biological filter setup.

80 watt High Output UV-C

Both the Gravity and Pump versions are equipped with two integrated 40 watt High Output UV-C units, together providing 80 watts of UV-C.

This combines mechanical filtration, biological filtration, and UV-C within a single filter system.

Internal backwash pump and control box

The Combi Drum 20/25 comes standard with an internal stainless steel backwash pump and Filtreau Excellent control box.

The backwash pump delivers a pressure of 4 bar and has a power of 800 watts. An industrial motor of 130 Nm and 60 watts is used to drive the drum.

The Excellent control box handles the automatic cleaning via the float switch. Manual operation for rotating and backwashing is also possible. The standard backwash time of the drum is approximately 10 seconds.

Gravity, Pump or Trickle

Within the WMC Combi Drum 20/25 series, several versions can be chosen. Which variant is most suitable depends on the technical design of the pond and the desired filtration capacity.

WMC Combi Drum 20/25 Gravity - Filtreau

The Gravity version is intended for a gravity installation. In this setup, the filter system is placed at the correct level relative to the pond. Pond water flows by gravity from, for example, bottom drains and skimmers to the filter. The pond pump is placed after the filter system.

The Gravity version has a maximum flow of 25 m³/hour. Filtreau indicates a maximum pond volume of 50 m³ and a maximum of 25 m³ for a koi pond.

This version features three 110 mm inlets and two 110 mm outlets.

WMC Combi Drum 20/25 Pump - Filtreau

The Pump version is intended for a pump-fed installation. In this setup, a pond pump pumps the water from the pond to the filter system.

This version is practical when a gravity setup is not possible or desired. The Pump version has a maximum flow of 20 m³/hour and, according to Filtreau, is suitable for ponds up to 40 m³. For koi ponds, a maximum of 20 m³ is maintained.

This version also features three 110 mm inlets and two 110 mm outlets.

Trickle for WMC Combi Drum 20/25 - Filtreau

As a supplement to the Combi Drum 20/25, a special Trickle filter is available. The Trickle filter is designed to further expand the biological filtration.

In a trickle filter, the water is distributed over the biological filter material and then flows down through the filter. The intensive contact between water, air, and filter material creates an oxygen-rich environment for the bacteria involved in biological filtration.

The matching Trickle has a maximum flow of 20 m³/hour, a 63 mm inlet, and dimensions of 660 × 320 × 882 mm.

Which version to choose?

Choose the WMC Combi Drum 20/25 Gravity when the pond is set up as a gravity installation and a maximum flow rate of up to 25 m³/hour is desired.

Choose the WMC Combi Drum 20/25 Pump when the pond water is fed to the filter system with a pump. This version has a maximum flow rate of 20 m³/hour.

Choose the matching Trickle filter when you want to expand the Combi Drum 20/25 with additional biological filtration and an oxygen-rich filtration step.
