The PondClear 6000 Transformer 7 Watts >2023 - SuperFish is an original replacement part for the UV-C section of the newer SuperFish PondClear 6000 pond filters. It is the green version of the ballast, specially developed for the integrated 7-watt UV-C unit of the PondClear 6000.

The ballast, also known as a transformer or driver, provides the electrical control for the UV-C lamp. When the original ballast becomes defective, the UV-C lamp can no longer be switched on correctly. With this separate replacement ballast, this specific part can be replaced without having to replace the entire pond filter.

When choosing the correct part, it is important to carefully check the version of the existing PondClear. There is also a red 7-watt ballast for the older generation. This green variant is intended for the newer version.

Green version for the newer PondClear 6000

This variant is the green 7-watt UV-C ballast for the newer generation of the PondClear 6000.

The older PondClear 6000 uses a red ballast. The green and red versions should therefore not be interchanged without checking.

This product is often referred to in trade as suitable for models >2023. Under SuperFish's current parts classification, the green version is associated with the newer model generation. Because the year of production, year of purchase, and model generation do not always coincide exactly, it is advisable to check especially the color and version of the existing ballast.

If you have a green ballast on your PondClear 6000, then this version is intended for that.

Specially for the PondClear 6000

The ballast was specially developed for the SuperFish PondClear 6000.

The PondClear 6000 is a complete biological pond filter with a built-in UV-C unit. The system combines mechanical debris collection, biological filtration, and UV-C treatment in one filter system.

The PondClear 6000 uses two filter chambers. The first chamber is equipped with filter brushes for collecting debris. The second filter chamber contains filter mats and Bio-Balls that provide a large surface area for biological filtration.

The built-in UV-C unit has a power of 7 watts.

7-watt UV-C ballast

This transformer is specifically matched to the 7-watt UV-C of the PondClear 6000.

A UV-C lamp needs a suitable driver to function correctly electrically. The ballast provides this control.

When the ballast becomes defective, the other parts of the filter system may still function normally. For example, the pond pump can still allow water to flow through the filter and the mechanical and biological filtration can remain active, while the UV-C lamp no longer switches on.

With this separate ballast, specifically the electrical part of the UV-C can be replaced.

First check which part is defective

When the UV-C lamp of the PondClear 6000 no longer functions, this does not automatically mean that the ballast is defective.

The UV-C lamp itself may also need replacing. A UV-C lamp is a wear part whose effective UV-C output gradually decreases during use.

Therefore, first check the lamp and the connections when the UV-C no longer works.

When a suitable and functioning 7-watt UV-C lamp is also not switched on, a problem with the ballast or electrical connection can be a possible cause.

By first determining which part is defective, you prevent parts from being replaced unnecessarily.

UV-C lamp not included

This product is specifically the green 7-watt UV-C ballast.

The 7-watt UV-C lamp itself is not included. When only the lamp needs replacing, it can therefore be replaced separately without also having to replace the ballast.

The quartz glass and the seals around the UV-C construction are also not part of this transformer.

Difference with the UV 7-9 Watt Service Kit

For the newer PondClear 6000, in addition to this green ballast, there is also a green UV 7-9 Watt Service Kit.

These two products have a different function.

The PondClear 6000 Transformer 7 Watts Green provides the electrical control of the UV-C lamp.

The UV 7-9 Watt Service Kit Green is intended for parts around the quartz glass and the seal of the UV-C construction.

When the quartz glass or a seal is damaged, you do not automatically need a new ballast. If the ballast is defective, replacing the quartz glass or a seal will not solve the electrical problem.

Do not confuse with the PondClear 3000

Within the same series, the smaller PondClear 3000 is also available. However, this uses a different UV-C power.

The PondClear 3000 has a 5-watt UV-C, while the PondClear 6000 uses a 7-watt UV-C.

The corresponding ballasts are therefore not the same. Use this green 7-watt ballast exclusively for the PondClear 6000 it is intended for.

Features of the PondClear 6000

The complete PondClear 6000 is developed for ponds up to a maximum of 6,000 liters.

The PondClear 6000 Kit is combined with a PondECO 2900 pond pump. This pump has within this filter set a pump capacity of 3,500 liters per hour and a power consumption of 14 watts.

Other important features of the complete PondClear 6000 are:

Other pond filters or UV-C devices can also use a 7-watt lamp, but that does not automatically mean that the connection and construction are the same.

Therefore, always check:

This prevents a ballast for another model or another generation from being ordered.

Safe replacement

The ballast is an electrical part that is used in combination with a pond filter. Therefore, always switch off the complete installation before carrying out work.

Unplug the plugs from the socket and make sure the system is completely de-energized before opening the UV-C unit or dismantling parts.

During replacement, also check the cables, connections, and surrounding parts for visible damage or moisture.

After installing the new ballast, all parts must be correctly reassembled and sealed before the installation is switched on again.

Never switch on a UV-C lamp outside the housing intended for it and never look directly at a switched-on UV-C lamp.

Targeted repair of your PondClear 6000

Because different parts of the PondClear are available separately, an existing filter system can be specifically maintained.

When, for example, only the UV-C ballast is defective and the filter housing, filter materials, and other parts are still functioning well, the entire filter does not need to be replaced immediately.

When do you replace the transformer?

When the UV-C lamp of the TopClear no longer functions, this does not necessarily mean that the transformer is defective.

First check the UV-C lamp itself. UV-C lamps are wear parts and gradually lose their effective UV-C output during their service life. Eventually, the lamp must be replaced.

When a suitable and functioning UV-C lamp does not work, the problem may be in the transformer, lamp holder, or electrical connection.

In addition, check the cables and connections for visible damage before replacing parts.

UV-C lamp not included

With this TopClear transformer, no 7-watt UV-C lamp is included.

When both the transformer and the UV-C lamp need to be replaced, the suitable lamp must be ordered separately.

The advantage of this is that you only need to replace the parts that actually need replacing.

When replacing the lamp, always check that it has the correct type and wattage for the TopClear 5000.

Difference with the UV-C service kit

In addition to this green transformer, a separate green UV-C service kit is also available for the newer TopClear series.

Complete 4-in-1 pond system

The CombiClear 4000 combines four important functions in one device: water circulation, UV-C treatment, filtration and a fountain.

This means that you do not need to install a pond pump, filter and UV-C device separately. For a compact pond, this saves not only space, but also a large number of hoses and connections.

The installation is therefore particularly easy. Place the CombiClear in a stable position on the bottom of the pond, mount and adjust the desired fountain spray head and connect the system.

For ponds up to a maximum of 4,000 liters

SuperFish specifies the CombiClear 4000 for ponds with a maximum volume of 4,000 liters.

However, the actual required filter capacity also depends on the conditions in the pond. Think of the amount of fish, the number of aquatic plants, the amount of sunlight, the water temperature and the amount of organic waste.

In a heavily stocked fish pond, a larger filter system may be necessary. The CombiClear 4000 is mainly well suited for compact ornamental ponds where a simple, integrated filter solution is desired.

Powerful pump of 1,950 liters per hour

In the CombiClear 4000, a pond pump with a maximum capacity of 1,950 liters per hour is integrated.

The pump has a power of 26 watts and a maximum lift height of 1.9 meters. This means that the 4000 version has considerably more capacity than the smaller CombiClear 2000.

The pump ensures the complete water circulation through the system. Pond water is drawn in, guided through the filter media and UV-C unit and then fed back into the pond.

The water flow can be adjusted, so that the operation of the fountain and water circulation can be tailored to the situation in the pond.

Integrated 7 watt UV-C

The CombiClear 4000 is equipped with a built-in 7 watt UV-C unit.

UV-C is used to tackle suspended algae in the passing pond water. These microscopically small algae can make the pond water green and cloudy.

During use, the water flows past the UV-C unit. The treated suspended algae can then be more easily captured by the filter system.

The UV-C thus complements the mechanical and biological filtration. It is therefore not the only filter component in the CombiClear, but works together with the available filter media.

Filter sponge, activated carbon and CrystalMax

Inside the filter chamber, various types of filter media are combined. The CombiClear 4000 is supplied with filter sponge, activated carbon and CrystalMax.

The filter sponge mainly provides mechanical filtration. Dirt particles that are carried with the water remain in the sponge material.

CrystalMax offers a surface on which beneficial bacteria can develop and thus supports the biological filtration of the pond water.

Activated carbon forms an additional filter step and can adsorb various dissolved substances from the passing water.

By combining several types of filter media, one compact unit can perform several filter functions.

Including adjustable fountain

In addition to filtration and water circulation, the CombiClear 4000 also has a decorative function. The system is supplied with a fountain set with various spray heads.

The fountain is height adjustable and can be tilted up to approximately 15 degrees. The latter is especially practical when the bottom of the pond is not completely flat. By tilting the fountain slightly, the spray head can still be set straight.

Keep in mind that the maximum capacity of 1,950 l/h is the total pump capacity. When the water flow is divided over multiple outlets, less capacity is available per outlet.

Compact dimensions

Despite the higher capacity, the CombiClear 4000 has the same compact dimensions as the CombiClear 2000.

The unit measures approximately 31 x 23 x 12 cm.

This means that the filter takes up relatively little space on the bottom of the pond. This is especially handy with smaller ponds, where a large filter element can quickly take up a lot of space.

A stable base ensures that the CombiClear can be placed firmly on the bottom. The large handle makes it easier to remove the device from the pond for maintenance.

10 meter power cable

The CombiClear 4000 is supplied with a 10 meter long power cable.

This generous cable length gives more freedom in determining the position of the filter in the pond. You therefore do not need an electrical connection directly next to the pond.

Easy maintenance

Because the CombiClear is placed completely underwater, the device must be removed from the pond for extensive maintenance. The large handle makes this easier.

Regularly check the filter sponge for accumulated dirt. When the sponge becomes saturated, the water flow decreases. This can eventually become visible because the fountain becomes less powerful.

At the same time, check the pump and rotor for leaves, string algae, sludge and limescale.

For the CombiClear 2000 and 4000, a special CombiClear Filter Media Set 2000-4000 is available. This contains replacement filter media that are tailored to the filter system.

Maintenance of the UV-C

The UV-C part also needs to be checked and maintained periodically.

Limescale and dirt on the quartz glass around the UV-C lamp reduce the amount of UV-C radiation that reaches the passing water. It is therefore important to keep the quartz glass clean.

Always switch off the device completely and remove the plug from the socket before the CombiClear is opened or maintained. A switched-on UV-C lamp must never be looked at directly.
