WMC Combi Drum 80/100 XXL drum filter - Filtreau

The WMC Combi Drum 80/100 XXL - Filtreau is one of the largest Combi Drum filter systems in the Excellent series. The system combines automatic mechanical drum filtration with a large biological filter section and is designed for large ponds and koi ponds with high water flow rates.

Three compatible versions are available within the WMC Combi Drum 80/100 XXL series:

• WMC Combi Drum 80/100 XXL Gravity
• WMC Combi Drum 80/100 XXL Pump
• Trickle for WMC Combi Drum 80/100 XXL

The Gravity and Pump versions are complete Combi Drum filter systems. The Trickle is an additional biological filter module that can be used with this Combi Drum for extra biological filtration capacity.

Large drum Ø650 × 800 mm

The WMC Combi Drum 80/100 XXL features a large drum measuring Ø650 × 800 mm. The PP screen is fitted with stainless steel filter mesh with a 120-micron mesh size.

The pond water flows through the mesh, where dirt particles are trapped in the drum. As the mesh becomes clogged, the water level changes. The float switch detects this and automatically activates a cleaning cycle.

During cleaning, the drum rotates and the filter mesh is sprayed clean with the internal wash pump. The rinsed-off dirt is removed from the filter system via the waste outlet.

Biological filter section

After mechanical filtration, the water flows into the biological section. Biological filter media can be placed here, on which beneficial bacteria can grow.

The WMC Combi Drum 80/100 XXL features 8 air supply ports measuring 50 × 300 mm for the biological filter section.

The filter is supplied without mats and Hel-X as standard. Japanese mats and Hel-X are available as options, allowing the biological section to be configured as desired.

Industrial drive and automatic cleaning

The large drum is driven by an industrial motor with 130 Nm of torque and a power output of 60 watts at 220 volts.

An internal stainless steel wash pump is provided for cleaning the filter mesh. According to the current Filtreau catalog, it delivers a pressure of 5 bar and has a power output of 750 watts at 220 volts.

The automatic cleaning ensures that accumulated dirt is regularly removed from the drum without the filter mesh having to be cleaned manually every time.

Excellent control box

Both the Gravity and Pump versions are supplied with the Filtreau Excellent control box. This controls the operation of the wash pump, pond pump, drum motor, integrated UV-C, and more.

The control box features automatic cleaning via the float switch and a manual rotate and wash function. The drum's standard wash time is 10 seconds.

On the Gravity version, the wash level is adjustable. On the pump-fed version, the wash level is not adjustable.

2 × 80-watt High Output UV-C

The WMC Combi Drum 80/100 XXL features two integrated 80-watt High Output UV-C units. The total built-in UV-C power is therefore 160 watts.

This combines mechanical drum filtration, biological filtration, and UV-C treatment in one large filter system.

WMC Combi Drum 80/100 XXL Gravity

The Gravity version is designed for a gravity-fed installation. In this setup, the filter system is placed at the correct level relative to the pond. The pond water flows by gravity to the filter via, for example, bottom drains and skimmers.

The pond pump is placed after the filter system and pumps the filtered water back into the pond.

The Gravity version has a maximum flow rate of 100 m³/h. Filtreau specifies a maximum pond volume of 200 m³. For a koi pond, the maximum specified volume is 100 m³.

The Gravity version features 9 inlets measuring 110 mm and 4 outlets measuring 110 mm.

WMC Combi Drum 80/100 XXL Pump

With the Pump version, the pond pump is placed before the filter system. The pump feeds the water into the Combi Drum, and after filtration, it flows back into the pond.

This version has a maximum flow rate of 70 m³/h. Filtreau specifies a maximum pond volume of 140 m³. For a koi pond, the maximum specified volume is 70 m³.

The Pump version also features 9 inlets measuring 110 mm and 4 outlets measuring 110 mm.

Difference between Gravity and Pump

Both versions use the same large Ø650 × 800 mm drum, 120-micron screen, biological filter space, industrial drive, internal wash pump, and 2 × 80-watt High Output UV-C.

The main difference lies in the installation and maximum water flow rate.

Both versions measure 2760 × 1515 × 1005 mm.

Trickle for WMC Combi Drum 80/100 XXL

A specially matching Filtreau Trickle is available for the WMC Combi Drum 80/100 XXL. It is used as an additional biological filter module.

The water is distributed over the biological filter media via the distribution tray and then flows down through the media. This creates extensive contact between the water, air, and the biological filter surface.

The matching Trickle has a maximum flow rate of 40 m³/h and features a 110 mm inlet.

The Trickle measures 1700 × 320 × 805 mm.

The Trickle does not replace the Gravity or Pump version but is used as an additional biological filtration step alongside the existing Combi Drum.

Which version should you choose?

The WMC Combi Drum 80/100 XXL Gravity is designed for a gravity-fed setup and processes a maximum of 100 m³ of water per hour. Filtreau specifies this version for ponds up to 200 m³ and koi ponds up to 100 m³.

The WMC Combi Drum 80/100 XXL Pump is pump-fed and processes a maximum of 70 m³/h. The specified maximum pond volume is 140 m³, or 70 m³ for a koi pond.

For both configurations, the matching Trickle can be added when extra biological filtration capacity is desired.
