WMC Combi Drum 30/40 Low Mountain Tree Gravity drum filter - Filtreau

The WMC Combi Drum 30/40 Low Mountain Tree Gravity - Filtreau is a complete pond filter system from the Excellent series. The filter combines automatic mechanical drum filtration with Mountain Tree biological filter media. This combines waste removal and biological water treatment in a single installation.

This version is specifically designed for a Gravity setup. The pond water flows by gravity from, for example, bottom drains and skimmers to the filter. The pond pump is placed on the clean side of the installation.

The maximum water flow rate is 40 m³/h. Filtreau provides a maximum pond volume of 80 m³. For ponds with koi, the maximum specified volume is 40 m³.

Automatic drum filtration of 120 microns

The mechanical filtration is provided by a drum measuring Ø500 × 400 mm. The PP screen is equipped with stainless steel mesh with a mesh size of 120 microns.

The pond water flows through this fine filter mesh, where dirt particles are removed from the water stream. When the filter mesh becomes clogged, the float switch detects the change in water level and automatically starts a rinse cycle.

During this cleaning cycle, the drum rotates and the filter mesh is cleaned by the integrated rinse system. The separated waste is discharged from the filter system, restoring the water flow rate without the drum filter needing to be cleaned manually.

Mountain Tree biological filter media

The major difference with the regular Combi Drum 30/40 Low is the biological filter section with Mountain Tree filter media.

The Mountain Tree version uses Lotus Root Bacteria House filter material, among other things. This material has a porous structure with a very large surface area on which bacteria can settle.

Filtreau provides a specific surface area of 4303 m² per m³ for Lotus Root Bacteria House II. In addition, Lotus Root Bacteria House I is used, with a specified surface area of 3380 m² per m³.

Both Lotus Root Bacteria House filter media are included in this version.

Rotating biological section

In the Filtreau Excellent Mountain Tree filters, the Lotus Root Bacteria House II is not simply placed stationary in the filter. The filter material is located in a rotating biological drum.

This construction ensures that the biological filter material is constantly moved by the water. This utilizes the available surface area of the Mountain Tree material for biological filtration.

The system features two industrial drive motors of 130 Nm and 60 watts each at 220 volts for this purpose.

Spiral Filter Mat

In addition to the Lotus Root Bacteria House, the WMC Combi Drum 30/40 Low makes use of the green Mountain Tree Spiral Filter Mat.

This filter mat has an open three-dimensional spiral structure. This creates a large surface area for biological activity, while water and oxygen can continue to flow through the material.

Filtreau provides a surface area of 550 m² per m³ for the green Spiral Filter Mat.

Through the combination of drum filtration, Lotus Root Bacteria House, and Spiral Filter Mat, mechanical waste is first removed, and the water then undergoes an extensive biological filtration step.

Integrated 80-watt High Output UV-C

The WMC Combi Drum 30/40 Low Mountain Tree Gravity features an integrated 80-watt High Output UV-C unit.

This combines mechanical drum filtration, Mountain Tree biological filtration, and UV-C treatment in a single filter installation.

Internal stainless steel rinse pump

An internal stainless steel rinse pump is built in for automatically cleaning the drum.

This rinse pump delivers a pressure of 5 bar and has a power of 750 watts at 220 volts. The system features five nozzles with screens for cleaning the drum mesh.

Excellent control box included

The WMC Combi Drum 30/40 Low Mountain Tree Gravity is supplied including the Filtreau Excellent control box.

The automatic cleaning is controlled via a float switch. In addition, the drum can be rotated and rinsed manually via the control box. The standard rinse time is 10 seconds.

Because this is the Gravity version, the rinse level can be set.

The control box features connections for, among others, the rinse pump, pond pump, drum drive, and the 80-watt High Output UV-C unit.

In addition, a rinse safety feature is present. When the system continues to rinse for five minutes in a row, the control box switches off and must be reset manually. A magnetic safety feature is also present that switches off the control box when the lid is opened.

Connections and dimensions

For the supply of pond water, the Gravity version features three 110 mm inlets. On the clean side, two 110 mm outlets are present.

The total dimensions are 2370 × 640 × 750 mm (length × width × height).

With a height of 750 mm, this Mountain Tree version has a relatively low profile, while the extra length provides space for the extensive biological filter section.
