WMC Combi Drum 30/50 Low Mountain Tree Gravity drum filter - Filtreau

The WMC Combi Drum 30/50 Low Mountain Tree Gravity - Filtreau is a complete filter system from the Excellent Mountain Tree series. This model combines automatic mechanical drum filtration with high-quality Mountain Tree biological filter media. This combines dirt separation and biological filtration in one system.

This version is suitable for a Gravity setup. In this setup, the pond water flows by gravity from, for example, bottom drains and skimmers to the filter. The pond pump is placed after the filter system and pumps the filtered water back into the pond.

With a maximum flow of 50 m³/h, the WMC Combi Drum 30/50 Low Mountain Tree is suitable for larger ponds. Filtreau states a maximum pond volume of 100 m³. For ponds with koi, the maximum stated volume is 50 m³.

Automatic drum filtration

The mechanical filter section features a drum measuring Ø500 × 400 mm. The PP screen is equipped with stainless steel filter mesh with a mesh size of 120 microns.

During the filtration process, the pond water flows through the fine mesh. Dirt particles are trapped before the water reaches the biological filter section. As the mesh becomes dirty, the water level in the filter changes.

The float switch detects this and automatically activates a cleaning cycle. The drum starts rotating and the five spray nozzles clean the filter mesh. The separated dirt is then discharged from the system.

Mountain Tree biological filtration

The main difference from a regular Combi Drum is the biological section with Mountain Tree filter media.

This version includes both Lotus Root Bacteria House I and Lotus Root Bacteria House II. These porous biological filter materials offer a large surface area on which bacteria can settle.

For Lotus Root Bacteria House I, Filtreau states a specific surface area of 3380 m² per m³. Lotus Root Bacteria House II has a stated specific surface area of 4303 m² per m³.

This creates a large amount of available surface area for the bacterial culture that plays an important role in the biological processing of waste products in the pond water.

Spiral Filter Mat Green

In addition to the Lotus Root Bacteria House, the Mountain Tree version makes use of the green Spiral Filter Mat.

This filter mat has an open structure allowing water to flow well through the material. Filtreau states a specific surface area of 550 m² per m³ for the Spiral Filter Mat Green.

By combining different types of biological filter material, the water is further biologically treated after the mechanical drum filtration.

Low version

The addition of 'Low' refers to the relatively low construction height of this filter system. The WMC Combi Drum 30/50 Low Mountain Tree has a height of 750 mm.

The total dimensions are 1773 × 1163 × 750 mm. This makes this version interesting for filter rooms where the available height is limited, while a high maximum water flow and extensive biological filter capacity are still desired.

Double industrial drive

The Mountain Tree version features two industrial motors of 130 Nm each.

Each motor has a power of 60 watts at 220 volts. The double drive belongs to the specific design of the Mountain Tree filter system.

Internal stainless steel rinse pump

For automatic drum cleaning, the filter features an internal stainless steel rinse pump.

This pump delivers a pressure of 5 bar and has a power of 750 watts at 220 volts. The rinse system features five nozzles with screens.

This cleans the filter mesh during an automatic rinse cycle and allows the drum filter to maintain its water flow without continuous manual cleaning.

80 watt High Output UV-C

The WMC Combi Drum 30/50 Low Mountain Tree Gravity features an integrated 80-watt High Output UV-C unit.

This allows the filter system to combine three important steps in one installation: mechanical drum filtration, biological filtration with Mountain Tree filter media, and UV-C treatment.

Excellent Mountain Tree control box

The Filtreau Excellent Mountain Tree control box is included. It handles, among other things, the automatic control of the cleaning cycle.

The automatic cleaning is activated by the float switch. In addition, the drum can be rotated and rinsed manually via the control panel. The standard rinse time is 10 seconds.

Because this model is a Gravity version, the rinse level is adjustable.

The control box features connections for the rinse pump, pond pump, drum drive motor, and the 80-watt High Output UV-C.

In addition, a rinse safety device is present. If the filter continues to rinse for five minutes straight, the control box switches off and must be reset manually. The magnetic safety device ensures that the control box is switched off when the lid is opened.

Connections

For the supply of pond water, the WMC Combi Drum 30/50 Low Mountain Tree Gravity features three 110 mm inlets.

On the clean side, two 110 mm outlets are present. The large connections are suitable for a Gravity installation where a high water flow with as little resistance as possible is desired.

Air supply

The system features four 50 × 300 mm air supplies for the biological filter section.

The combination of drum filtration, biological Mountain Tree filter media, aeration, and integrated UV-C makes the WMC Combi Drum 30/50 Low Mountain Tree a comprehensive filter system for larger ponds and koi ponds.
