Smart Thermo Alarm - Superfish
€10,99
The Smart Thermo Alarm - SuperFish is a digital aquarium thermometer that allows you not only to check the current water temperature, but also to set a minimum and maximum temperature yourself. If the measured temperature falls outside these set limits, a flashing alarm appears on the display. This allows you to quickly see when the aquarium is getting too warm or too cold.
The thermometer is attached to the outside of the aquarium's front pane. The temperature sensor is located on the back of the device and measures the temperature through the aquarium glass. This means that no separate sensor or cable needs to hang in the aquarium water.
SuperFish supplies the Smart Thermo Alarm including a battery. The thermometer is suitable for both freshwater and saltwater aquariums and has a compact size of approximately 8 x 7.5 cm.
Adjustable minimum and maximum temperature
The main difference from a standard aquarium thermometer is the integrated alarm function.
With a regular thermometer, you have to check regularly yourself whether the temperature is still within the desired range. With the Smart Thermo Alarm, you can specify in advance which minimum and maximum temperature you consider acceptable.
If the temperature falls below the set minimum value or rises above the set maximum value, the thermometer gives a visual warning via a flashing alarm.
This allows you to see more quickly that the temperature is deviating and then check what is causing it.
Useful for problems with the aquarium heater
The alarm function can be particularly useful in a heated tropical aquarium.
For example, if an aquarium heater no longer functions correctly, the temperature can slowly drop. Conversely, a problem with the thermostat can cause the aquarium water to become warmer than desired.
If you only occasionally look at a standard thermometer, such a deviation can go unnoticed for longer.
The Smart Thermo Alarm makes deviations clearly visible as soon as you look at the aquarium. The thermometer does not switch off the heater itself and does not send a notification to a smartphone. It is a visual flashing alarm on the display.
Digital display
The temperature is displayed on a clear digital display.
This means you do not have to read a small scale as with a traditional glass aquarium thermometer. The measured temperature is immediately visible.
The display is also used to set the minimum and maximum temperature limits.
This makes the Smart Thermo Alarm suitable for aquarium owners who want to be able to quickly see whether the temperature is still within the desired range.
Mounting on the outside of the aquarium glass
The Smart Thermo Alarm is not placed underwater. You mount the thermometer on the outside of the front pane of the aquarium.
On the back, there is a sensor and an adhesive strip with which the device is attached to the glass.
The advantage of this design is that no thermometer, cable, or separate temperature sensor needs to hang visibly in the aquarium. This is especially convenient for neatly arranged aquariums or aquascapes in which you want to have as little equipment in sight as possible.
Make sure that the area on the aquarium glass is clean and dry before attaching the thermometer. This allows the adhesive strip to make good contact with the pane.
Compact size
The thermometer has a size of approximately 8 x 7.5 cm and therefore takes up relatively little space on the aquarium glass.
The flat design makes it possible to place the device in a clearly visible location on the front.
Preferably choose a location where you can easily read the display, but where the thermometer is not constantly exposed to direct sunlight or another external heat source. Placement next to a radiator or in bright sunlight can affect the conditions around the measuring point.
Includes battery
The SuperFish Smart Thermo Alarm is supplied including a battery.
So no mains power or extra cable to the socket is needed. This keeps the installation simple and prevents an extra power cable around the aquarium.
When putting it into use, the battery compartment must be opened according to the instructions and the insulation tab present must be removed, so that the battery makes contact.
The thermometer uses a CR2032 button cell battery. When the battery eventually runs out, it can be replaced.
Suitable for freshwater aquariums
The Smart Thermo Alarm can be used in various types of freshwater aquariums.
For tropical fish, temperature control is important because different fish species each have their own desired temperature range. Shrimp and other aquarium inhabitants can also be sensitive to large temperature fluctuations.
By adjusting the alarm limits to the inhabitants of the aquarium, you get a clear visual warning when the temperature falls outside the range you have chosen.
Always check which water temperature is suitable for the specific animals you keep.
Also suitable for saltwater aquariums
SuperFish indicates that the Smart Thermo Alarm is also suitable for saltwater aquariums.
Because the thermometer is mounted on the outside of the glass, the electronic device also does not come into direct contact with the saltwater in the aquarium.
Here too you can set the desired minimum and maximum limit yourself and check the current temperature digitally.
No separate sensor in the water
A practical difference with many other digital thermometers is that the Smart Thermo Alarm does not have a wired temperature sensor that needs to hang in the aquarium.
The measurement takes place via the sensor on the back of the device and the aquarium glass.
This keeps the arrangement of the aquarium tidier. You do not have an extra cable along the back wall and no sensor that needs to be attached to the water with a suction cup.
For aquascapes and other aquariums where a lot of attention is paid to the appearance, this can be an attractive advantage.
Alarm function as extra control
The Smart Thermo Alarm can be well combined with an aquarium heater with a built-in thermostat.
The thermostat of the heater regulates the heating, while the Smart Thermo Alarm can be used as a separate temperature control.
For example, you can set a minimum temperature where you want to be warned when the aquarium is insufficiently heated. With the maximum temperature, you can make visible when the water becomes warmer than desired.
The thermometer does not take any automatic measures here. The flashing alarm indicates that you need to check the situation.
Difference with the Smart Thermo Min-Max
In addition to the Smart Thermo Alarm, SuperFish also has the Smart Thermo Min-Max.
These products look similar in design and application, but have a different function.
The Smart Thermo Alarm lets you set a minimum and maximum limit yourself and warns when the temperature falls outside that.
The Smart Thermo Min-Max, on the other hand, records the lowest and highest measured temperature over the past 24 hours.
If you mainly want to be warned about an unwanted temperature deviation, then the Smart Thermo Alarm is the appropriate version.
Practical temperature control for daily use
With the SuperFish Smart Thermo Alarm, you add an extra control to the temperature regulation of your aquarium.
The combination of a digital display, self-adjustable minimum and maximum temperature, and a clear flashing alarm makes it easier to notice unwanted temperature changes.
Because the thermometer is attached to the outside of the aquarium, as little equipment as possible remains visible in the water. Together with the included battery and suitability for both freshwater and saltwater aquariums, this makes the Smart Thermo Alarm a practical digital thermometer for daily use.
