High-density polystyrene pool block - 125 x 25 x 30 cm
This construction system is by far our favorite for building a swimming pool. Strong, fast, easy, and excellently insulated! Planning to build a pool in your garden yourself? Make it easy for yourself by using these polystyrene blocks.
What is the polystyrene construction system?
Our polystyrene construction system is an innovative way to build your own swimming pool. The block is made of polystyrene (Tempex), a lightweight material that is both durable and easy to handle. The block has a rectangular shape and can be easily stacked to create a strong and stable structure. These building blocks are similar to Lego. Entry steps, coping, or walls—you can make it all with these polystyrene building blocks. Once the structure is in place, the blocks are filled with concrete. This creates an incredibly strong foundation for your swimming pool.
Quality
These high-density pool blocks are made of PS60/30. This means that the block consists of a PS core with a density of 30 kilograms per cubic meter (kg/m³). In addition, they feature a strong and hard outer layer with a density of 60 kg/m³. This type of pool block combines the best of both worlds. As a result, the risk of dents in the pool wall is minimal. These blocks are also exceptionally resistant to pressure and stress. To top it all off, a higher-density block also provides better thermal insulation, which helps maintain the temperature of the pool water and is beneficial for energy costs.
How many Styropool blocks and how much concrete do you need?
First of all, it is important to know the dimensions your swimming pool will have. In this calculation example, we are using a pool measuring 8.00 x 4.00 x 1.50 meters.
Number of pool blocks:
To calculate the number of blocks required, add 1 meter to the perimeter of the pool, multiply this by 5, and divide the result by 1.25
Calculation example result:
- Perimeter: 8+8+4+4+1 = 25 meters
- Perimeter x Height: 25 x 5 = 125
- Number of pool blocks: 125 / 1.25 = 100
Number of liters of concrete:
We recommend using 115 liters of concrete for every square meter of the pool's perimeter
Calculation example result:
- Perimeter: 8+8+4+4+1 = 25 meters
- Perimeter x Height: 25 x 1.5 = 37.5 m²
- Number of liters of concrete: 37.5 x 115 = 4,313 liters or 4.3 m³
Please note: It is wise to order at least 1 or 2 extra blocks. This is to account for cutting waste or damage during construction.
