AquaForte “Helix” Biocarrier – 25-Liter Bag – AquaForte

The AquaForte “Helix” Biocarrier is an advanced biological filter medium specially developed for floating or moving bed applications in modern pond and aquaculture systems. The bio-medium is also ideal for use in trickle filters, where its clever design delivers maximum biological filtration.

With a diameter of 17 mm and a height of 15 mm, this compact yet highly effective filter material is designed to provide an optimal biological surface area. The biocarrier has an impressive total surface area of 720 m² per m³, of which 589 m² per m³ is effectively protected. This means that the medium provides an excellent environment for the attachment of beneficial bacteria, which are responsible for breaking down ammonia, nitrite, and other harmful substances in the pond water.

Thanks to the large amount of protected surface (where flow is possible, but predation or the washing away of bacteria is limited), these white Helix bio-rings perform significantly better than traditional bio-rings or K1/K3 media. They support a much higher bacterial density, resulting in faster and more effective biological filtration.

The medium is white, making it easy to see the difference between new and already “matured” media with biofilm. The product image clearly shows how the bio-rings change color over time when in use – from white to dark, thanks to the growth of biofilm.
