Prime Combi-Drum filter - AquaForte

The AquaForte Prime Combi-Drum filter combines mechanical and biological filtration in a single filter system. This removes dirt particles from the pond water while providing space for the biological breakdown of waste products. The system is designed for ponds where efficient filtration is desired without having to install multiple separate filter units.

The first part of the filter consists of a drum filter. The incoming pond water is mechanically filtered here before flowing into the biological section. Dirt such as leaves, feed residues, excrement, and other suspended contaminants is removed from the water, preventing this waste from unnecessarily entering the biological filter section.

Mechanical filtration with drum filter

The drum filter is the first step in the filtration process. The pond water flows through the drum's filter cloth, where dirt particles are trapped. As more dirt accumulates on the filter cloth, the water flow decreases.

The system can then perform a backwash cycle, cleaning the filter cloth and discharging the collected dirt through the waste outlet. This means the filter cloth does not need to be cleaned manually all the time, and the removed dirt is actually discharged from the water system.

Mechanical and biological filtration

After mechanical filtration, the water flows into the biological filter section. Filter media can be used here, on which beneficial bacteria can develop. These bacteria play an important role in the biological conversion of waste products in the pond water.

Because the drum filter removes most of the solid waste beforehand, the biological section is less burdened with organic waste. This allows mechanical and biological filtration to complement each other within a single system.

Compact all-in-one solution for pond filtration

A major advantage of the AquaForte Prime Combi-Drum is that two important steps of pond filtration are combined in a single filter unit. This means that a separate drum filter and a separate biological filter are not required. This can make the installation more organized and save space in the filter room.

For proper operation, it is important to correctly size the filter system for the pond volume, fish stock, desired flow rate, and pond pump used. Pipe diameters and other components of the installation also play an important role in this.
