Pond liner 4x4m - SuperFish is a practical base for creating a compact pond in the garden yourself. With dimensions of 4 x 4 meters and a total area of 16 m², this liner offers plenty of freedom in determining the shape and layout of the pond. This size can also be a suitable solution for renovating an existing smaller lined pond.

The great advantage of working with pond liner is that you are not restricted by the fixed dimensions and shapes of a pre-formed pond shell. You decide how the pond will look. This allows you to make optimal use of the available space in the garden and ensure the pond matches the desired appearance.

Determine the shape and depth yourself

With pond liner, you can create both natural and more structured pond shapes. Think of a compact round or organically shaped ornamental pond, but also a rectangular water feature. During excavation, you decide where the deeper and shallower areas will be.

Different depth levels can be useful when you want to plant aquatic plants in the pond. For example, you can create shallower zones for plants that need to be closer to the water surface and also create a deeper area.

The flexible liner follows the contours of the excavated pond. This allows you to adapt the shape much more precisely to the available space than when using a ready-made pond shell.

Calculate how much liner you need beforehand

The dimension of 4 x 4 meters is the total dimension of the piece of liner and not the maximum dimension of the final pond. A significant portion of the liner is needed to cover the depth and walls of the pond.

The deeper the pond, the more liner you will need. It is also wise to leave enough extra liner around the pond. This extra edge makes it easier to position the liner properly during installation and to secure and finish it neatly later.

Therefore, carefully measure the desired length, width, and maximum depth of the pond beforehand. Allow for a sufficient margin. This will prevent you from discovering during installation that there is insufficient liner available for the desired pond.

Ensure a good base

Careful preparation of the soil is important before applying the pond liner. Check the excavated pond for sharp stones, roots, and other protruding objects. These can put pressure on the liner and should therefore be removed as much as possible.

For extra protection, it is wise to place a suitable protective underlay or pond fabric beneath the liner. This creates an additional barrier between the base and the pond liner.

The liner can then be laid generously over the pond. Make sure there is enough material left on all sides and try to distribute the liner evenly over the bottom and walls already.

Fill gradually for a neat finish

After positioning, the pond can be filled gradually with water. The weight of the water presses the liner further against the bottom and walls. During filling, you can check the position of the liner and distribute any folds as neatly as possible.

Folds can especially occur with round shapes, curves, and different levels. This is normal when working with pond liner. By working carefully and distributing the folds during filling, the pond can be finished neatly.

Do not cut off excess liner around the pond immediately. It is preferable to wait until the pond is filled and the liner is completely in place. This way, you maintain a sufficient margin if the liner shifts slightly during filling.

Finish the pond edge neatly

When the pond is completely filled, the edge can be finished further. The remaining pond liner can be concealed with, for example, stones, gravel, or other suitable edging materials. This allows you to hide the liner largely from view and make the pond blend beautifully with the garden.

For a natural pond, the edge can, for example, be combined with plants and stones. For a more structured design, a more uniform edge finish can be chosen.

The Pond liner 4x4m - SuperFish is therefore a practical choice for smaller pond projects where flexibility is key. You determine the shape, depth, and appearance yourself and can thus create a pond that fits well within the available space.

Oase Pond Protection Fabric 200 g/m² – 2 x 5 meters

Good protection under the pond liner is important for a durable and reliable pond construction. The Oase Pond Protection Fabric 200 g/m² forms a sturdy protective layer between the subsoil and the pond liner. This reduces the chance that sharp stones, roots, or other irregularities in the soil will damage the pond liner.

The protection fabric measures 2 x 5 meters, covering an area of 10 m², and is suitable for use in the construction of various types of lined ponds.

Protection between the subsoil and the pond liner

When excavating a pond, small stones, sharp parts, or roots can always remain in the soil despite careful preparation. Once the pond is filled, the weight of the water creates considerable pressure on the pond liner. This can cause irregularities in the subsoil to press against the liner and cause damage over time.

The Oase pond protection fabric is therefore placed under the pond liner. The fabric provides an extra protective layer and helps distribute the pressure from small irregularities more evenly. This reduces the chance of damage and leaks in the pond liner.

Strong quality of 200 g/m²

With a weight of 200 grams per square meter, this protection fabric provides a sturdy foundation for the construction of a lined pond. The material is designed to protect the pond liner without making the construction unnecessarily complicated.

The fabric is flexible and therefore easy to lay over the excavated pond bottom and along the pond walls. It can also be easily incorporated into ponds with different levels, curves, and shapes.

Easy to work with

Before the protection fabric is laid, it is advisable to remove as many sharp stones, roots, and other protruding parts from the subsoil as possible. The pond protection fabric can then be laid over the bottom and walls.

Make sure that the entire surface on which the pond liner will lie is sufficiently protected. When multiple pieces of protection fabric are required, they can be laid next to each other with some overlap. The pond liner is then placed over the protection fabric.

After filling the pond, the protection fabric remains permanently between the bottom and the pond liner.

Why use pond protection fabric?

Pond liner forms the waterproof foundation of a lined pond and must therefore be protected against damage as effectively as possible. A small sharp stone or root can create a weak spot under the influence of the weight of the pond water.

By placing a protection fabric under the liner, you create an extra layer of safety. This is a sensible addition to the pond construction, especially with natural subsoils where stones and roots may be present.
