Pond Air Kit 1 - SuperFish is a complete aeration set that allows you to easily add extra air and water movement to a pond. The air movement from an air stone can help to keep an existing hole in the ice open and thus enable gas exchange.

Do not place the air stone at the deepest point of the pond during cold periods. In winter, the relatively warmest water is usually at the bottom. A strong air stream from the bottom can unnecessarily mix these water layers with the cold surface water.

Therefore, place the air stone higher in the pond in winter.

5 meters of air hose included

The set is supplied with 5 meters of air hose. This gives you enough space to place the air pump in a suitable dry location next to the pond.

Preferably do not use more hose than necessary. A very long hose causes extra resistance and can reduce the final amount of air that reaches the air stone.

Regularly check the air hose for kinks and damage. When the hose is pinched, the air cannot be properly discharged and the load on the air pump increases.

Always place the air pump in a dry location

The air pump itself is not intended to be placed in the water. Therefore, always place the pump in a dry and well-ventilated location.

Preferably place the pump higher than the water surface. This reduces the chance that pond water will flow back towards the pump through the air hose when the pump is not running.

If the air pump necessarily has to be placed lower than the water level, use a suitable non-return valve in the air hose. This prevents water from flowing back into the air pump.

In addition, protect the air pump against rain and other forms of direct moisture.

Pay attention to the placement depth

The deeper an air stone is placed, the greater the water pressure the air pump has to work against. A small air pump therefore delivers less air when the air stone is placed very deep.

Place the air stone at a depth that suits the capacity of the Pond Air Kit 1 and check that enough air bubbles come out of the stone.

Furthermore, an air stone does not always need to be at the deepest point of the pond to be effective. The most important thing is that sufficient water movement and gas exchange are created.

Maintenance of air stone and pump

Over time, the air stone can become fouled by algae, lime and other deposits. This partially closes the small openings and increases resistance.

When you notice that clearly fewer air bubbles are coming out of the stone, first check the air stone and air hose.

A heavily fouled or worn air stone can easily be replaced. By cleaning or replacing the air stone in time, you prevent the air pump from having to work against too high resistance for extended periods.

In addition, regularly check that the air inlet of the pump is free from dust and dirt.
