Swimming Pool Filter Material

Aqualoon is a unique new filter medium for sand filters and cartridge filters. It is much lighter than traditional filter sand or filter glass. Can filter particles down to 1 micron! Also filters oils from the water.

Properties of Aqualoon Filter Medium:

- 100% Polyethylene.

- Energy-saving.

- Very high dirt-holding capacity.

- Low pressure drop.

- Does not clump together.

- Reduces backwash frequency.

- Long lifespan (washable in the washing machine).

- Easy to handle due to its light weight.

- 700 grams of Aqualoon replaces 25 kg of filter sand!

W’eau Coarse Filter Sand – 20 kg is a durable and reliable filter medium specially developed for larger swimming pools with a sand filter system. The coarse grain structure is perfect for capturing larger debris such as leaves, twigs, and other floating dirt, which contributes to better water quality and less strain on the fine filter layers above.

During the filtration process, the pool water flows down through the top of the filter tank, where the coarse filter sand at the bottom captures the initial debris. Regular cleaning using the backwash function ensures that the sand maintains its optimal performance. The expected lifespan is 4 to 5 years, after which you can easily replace it with a new supply.

Use in combination with fine filter sand
For sand filters with a capacity above 100 kg, it is recommended to combine coarse filter sand with fine filter sand in a ratio of 5:1. In this setup, the coarse sand forms the bottom layer in the filter tank and acts as a pre-filter, allowing the fine sand above it to perform better and last longer. For example, with 125 kg of filter sand, you would use 5 bags of fine sand and 1¼ bags of coarse sand.

Benefits:

• Coarse structure: ideal for larger debris

• Perfect for medium to large swimming pools

• Essential for filters >100 kg as the bottom filter layer

• Lifespan of approx. 4–5 years

• Cleanable via the backwash function

• Ensures cleaner water and less clogging

With W’eau coarse filter sand, you lay a strong foundation for an effective filtration system and a long-lasting clear swimming pool.

W’eau Fine Filter Sand – 20 kg is a high-quality filter medium specially developed to effectively remove visible dirt such as leaves, insects, and dust particles from swimming pool water. Thanks to its fine grain structure, this filter sand is particularly suitable for smaller swimming pools and sand filter systems with a lower sand capacity.

During the filtration process, the swimming pool water flows through the filter and the dirt is trapped by the fine sand. Regular backwashing ensures that the sand remains clean and maintains its filtering performance. The sand has an average lifespan of 4 to 5 years and is easy to replace.

Application tips:
For sand filters that require less than 100 kg of sand, fine filter sand alone is sufficient. For filters that require more than 100 kg, it is recommended to use a combination of fine and coarse filter sand in a ratio of 5:1. In this case, always place the coarse sand at the bottom of the filter tank for an optimal filter bed structure.

Benefits:

• Fine grain structure: optimal dirt removal

• Suitable for smaller sand filters and swimming pools

• Easy to clean via the backwash function

• Lasts approx. 4–5 years

• Clear, clean and healthy swimming pool water

• Compatible with all standard sand filters

With W’eau fine filter sand, you ensure a clear swimming pool, minimal maintenance effort, and years of filtration enjoyment.

W’eau Fine Filter Glass – 20 kg is a high-quality filter medium made from recycled green glass, designed as a sustainable alternative to traditional filter sand. This fine filter glass (Grade 1) has a grain size of 0.5–1.0 mm and is ideal for use in sand filters for swimming pools and ponds.

Thanks to the unique structure of the glass, it provides highly efficient filtration: it retains fine dirt particles better than sand, resulting in clearer water. Furthermore, up to 20% less material is required compared to sand, making its use more economical and environmentally friendly.

Another major advantage is its long lifespan of approximately 10 years—significantly longer than traditional filter sand. The glass is resistant to bacterial growth, reduces the need for backwashing, and helps maintain more stable water quality.

Benefits:

• Made from recycled green glass

• Fine filter medium (Grade 1: 0.5–1.0 mm)

• Up to 20% less material required than sand

• Lasts up to 10 years

• Better dirt retention than traditional sand

• Bacterial-resistant and low maintenance

• Environmentally friendly and economical to use

With W’eau Filter Glass, you choose clear water, sustainable filtration, and less maintenance.

W’eau Coarse Filter Glass – 20 kg is a powerful and durable filter medium specially developed as an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional filter sand. It consists of green, recycled glass and has a coarse grain structure of 1.0 to 3.0 mm (Grade 2), making it ideal for the bottom filter layer in multi-layer filter systems or for filters that process coarser debris.

Thanks to its porous and angular structure, filter glass offers more effective filtration than sand, with higher dirt retention and improved flow. Furthermore, you only need 80% of the quantity compared to sand, making its use more economical.

With a lifespan of approximately 10 years, W’eau filter glass is also particularly easy to maintain. The material is resistant to bacterial growth and calcification, resulting in fewer backwashes and better preservation of water quality.

Benefits:

• Made from recycled green glass

• Grade 2 grain: 1.0 – 3.0 mm – ideal for coarser filtration

• Only 80% required compared to sand

• Lifespan of approx. 10 years

• Bacterial-resistant and low maintenance

• Improved water quality and clarity

• Sustainable and environmentally friendly

Use W’eau Coarse Filter Glass in your pool or pond filter and benefit from long-lasting performance, clearer water, and a lower ecological footprint.
